Illegal Tire Pile Clean Up

Large scrap tire stockpiles present a serious threat to human health and the environment. For one, they provide an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes, which of course are carriers of infectious diseases such as West Nile Virus and Encephalitis. It is also worth noting that tire piles also present a dangerous fire hazard as the result of lightning strikes, equipment malfunctions, or arson. The longer a stockpile remains unabated the more likely it is to catch fire.

The Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) estimates that 275 million tires are stockpiled--many of them illegally--across the United States and that 290 million new scrap tires are generated each year. That's one new tire for every individual citizen of the United States each year!

Tex-American has the knowledge, personnel and equipment necessary to complete tire stockpile cleanup from a few hundred to several million tires. Utilizing cutting edge mobile shredding operations and our own fleet of truck, trailers, excavators, material handlers and mobile processing equipment, Tex-American can recycle tires to our customer specifications.

Tires as alternative energy:

Tire derived fuel has as much as 16,000 BTU per pound when burned as fuel compared with only 12,000 BTU per pound when coal is used.

It is estimated that if only one million tires were used as fuel in place of coal, it could potentially reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 19.5%.

Tire piles are a threat to the environment and public health
Tire piles not only take away from the natural beauty of the Earth, but are also a serious danger in regards to public health and safety. They are also usually illegal as well.
